I hold true to the social work motto, "meet each person where they are at". I offer a safe, upbeat, supportive atmosphere where you can feel comfortable and free to express yourself openly. I strive toward forming a strong therapeutic relationship that enables you to learn how to achieve your goals to improve your overall well-being and most importantly to Stay Positive.

The focus of my practice is treating college students, adults who are balancing their way through work and life and the baby boomers who want to find their peace. My concentration focuses on depression, anxiety, work related stress, self-esteem, relationship issues, life altering changes and even long-term care decisions. I utilize a strength-based approach combining mindfulness, psychotherapy and CBT techniques. I have 20 years of experience successfully working with individuals in outpatient, inpatient, and residential/community-based settings.

I believe that through collaboration with the therapist each person can find their true motivation and can navigate their way towards the change by using their inner resources and, if need be, through learning new skills. Be it an emotional challenge or upheaval, a relationship issue or stress, one should not have to do it alone and moving on in life can be possible.

I have over 10 years of experience of working with people of different ages and diverse backgrounds. I am EMDRIA certified therapist. Healing comes in all different forms.  Sometimes healing involves working through emotional pain or trauma and sometimes it is emotional growth and exploration.  My goal as a therapist is to help my clients find inner peace and understand what healing looks like for them.  I work to create a safe and serene environment where you can come and let your guard down.  No matter what, therapy is a very personal and individualized journey.

My areas of interest and specializations include eating disorders, identity development (with a focus on the LGBTQ+ spectrum) and women’s issues.

It is normal to struggle at times throughout your life, but can be difficult to ask for help with these struggles. This is why I consider my work as a counselor a privilege, striving to treat each client with dignity, respect and humor. In my 15 years of work as a counselor, I have found most people have the strength and creativity to meet their needs and recover.  Counseling is simply seeking guidance from another to gain hope and uncover this resiliency.

I enjoy working with individuals  to support their growth and change in a variety of areas - stabilizing mood, managing anxiety, resolving interpersonal conflict, improving communication, addressing career concerns, finding comfort around issues of sex and sexuality, and recovering from substance abuse.
